Established in 2011, the African Guarantee Fund is a Pan-African financial institution dedicated to promoting economic development, increasing employment, and reducing poverty across Africa. AGF achieves this by providing financial institutions with guarantees and other financial products specifically designed to support Small and Medium-sized Enterprises (SMEs). By offering a risk-sharing mechanism, AGF enables financial institutions to enhance their lending to SMEs operating in sectors that drive economic growth.
Eligibility
- For Financial Institutions:
- Operational Presence: Must be operating within African countries.
- Commitment to SME Financing: Demonstrated interest in or plans to increase lending to SMEs.
- Financial Stability: Sound financial health and compliance with regulatory requirements.
- For SMEs (indirect beneficiaries):
- Formal Registration: Legally registered and compliant with local regulations.
- Viable Business Plan: A clear plan demonstrating potential for growth and profitability.
- Sector Alignment: Operating in sectors that contribute to economic development.
