Africa Netpreneur Prize

The Jack Ma Foundation’s flagship philanthropic entrepreneur program in Africa, led in partnership with the African Leadership Group. The initiative aims to identify and spotlight African entrepreneur heroes and their stories to inspire the continent and beyond. The program provides not only grant funding but also mentorship, network access, and significant media exposure through the “Africa’s Business Heroes” television show distributed via major networks.

Funding Amount

ANPI offers a total annual grant of US$1 million, distributed among ten finalists who compete in a grand finale pitch competition. The exact allocation of funds among the finalists is determined during the competition.

Target Organisations

African entrepreneurs from all 54 African countries. All ages, genders, and sectors are eligible. Special focus on:

  • Small enterprises
  • Female entrepreneurs
  • Entrepreneurs improving local communities
  • Social impact-oriented businesses
  • Both traditional and technology-driven businesses

June 30th (annual deadline)

Eligibility Criteria

  • Applicant must be a Founder or Co-Founder of the company
  • Applicant must have African citizenship OR have a parent/grandparent with African citizenship
  • The company must be Africa-based (registered and headquartered in an African country)
  • Business must primarily operate in Africa
  • Business must be post-idea stage (3 years old or more)
  • Must have at least 3 years of revenue history
  • Only individuals of African origin may apply
