Fund For Innovation

Created in 2021 and chaired by Esther Duflo, co-recipient of the 2019 Nobel Prize in Economics, FID is an innovative development financing mechanism. At the heart of its approach are synergies between innovation and research teams to pilot, test, and evaluate the impact of projects using rigorous scientific methods. In the long term, FID’s ambition is to contribute to transforming public policies by supporting the scaling up of proven innovations in the fight against poverty and inequality.

Funding Amount

  • Pilot: 200,000.00 euros
  • Testing and Preparation for scaling: 1,500,000.00 euros
  • Scaling: 4,000,000.00 euros

Target

FID funds projects in all sectors but prioritizes proposals in education, health, climate, and gender equality.

Eligibility

All types of organizations can apply independently or as part of a consortium: research institutions, governments, NGOs, private companies, universities, etc. Only projects led by individuals or multilateral organizations are not eligible to apply.
